🥾 Short Hike in Ifonche – an easy loop trail with great views:

🌲 Starting point: Restaurant Dornajo in Ifonche
I start the loop hike at the El Dornajo restaurant in Ifonche. This is where the old path begins that once connected Arona with Adeje – back when life was still centered in the mountains and there was hardly anything happening on the coast.
The path leads toward Casa Benítez, past pines, cacti and broom. The trail is very walkable and even small children manage it easily. My boys were already enthusiastic about it when they were just under three years old.

👶 Alternative with stroller
If you’re traveling with a stroller, avoid the entry from the pin to the first fork – the ground there is too rocky.
A nice alternative:
Follow the hiking trail of the Gran Ruta that connects La Enramada with La Esperanza and passes by Dornajo, after 500 meters simply follow the described route and go back the same way.

🌄 Highlights of the tour
At the first fork I turn left and walk to the threshing floor located high above the Barranco del Infierno. People used the updrafts that rose from the depths of the barranco to help farmers separate the wheat from the chaff.
The view into the gorge is breathtaking – an ideal spot for a break, a few photos and a sip of water.
I like to linger here, enjoy the peace, the silence, most of the time I’m alone, this threshing floor is a place of power for me. The atmosphere is especially special when fog rises.
The path continues along the barranco toward Adeje.
At the next junction I take the left path, which leads to another viewpoint.
The right path to Adeje is only for experienced hikers, as it’s in poor condition and partially collapsed.
🏡 Between tradition and decay
On the way back I pass a lovingly restored finca with an old threshing floor and a stone oven – a piece of history that invites you to dream.
Shortly after, a stark contrast follows: an abandoned finca where the remains of an old wine press are slowly rotting away.
A little later I’m back in Ifonche.

“Conejo en Salmorejo” – rabbit in spicy marinade.
A wonderful ending to a short but impressive hike.
